Jurong Country Garden School

On visiting this school at the start of the year everything looked great. Visiting again before Chinese New Year it was a dump. There had been considerable vandalism of signs by students which must have been taking place for several months. There were empty rooms used as dumps for furniture and disused technical equipment which were covered in thick layers of dust and yet the windows from the halls plainly showcase the negligence. Students were loud and shouting in the halls and at the end of the day, the teachers I wanted to see had disappeared within a few minutes. The laboratories were small, poorly equipped and looked like they came directly out of the 19th century. The MYP was a total joke, Although authorised, my child had essentially no IB education. Many of the children were racists and bullies and the teachers did absolutely nothing about this. Apparently this is quite acceptable in a school where the learner profile is nowhere to be seen and there was no indication that this actually was an IB world school. Exposed electrical wiring, sharp edges in corridors and an accessible green house full of broken glass were some of the other highlights of this school.
